During a puppies socialisation phase (up to 16 weeks), they are like little sponges and absorb everything in their environment. Every thing that they experience, good or bad, gets added to their reference database to be used in situations as an adult. It has been proven that pups benefit from puppy socialisation classes and our aim is to give your puppy a ‘tool box’ that he can use as he goes through life. And puppy classes are an ideal opportunity for you and your pup to bond!
All our training is done using positive reinforcement methods (food, toys etc). Absolutely no choke chains, prong collars and the like are allowed!
We teach some basic obedience such as sit, down, stay, come, in the puppy class as well as expose your pups to variety of obstacles. This helps them build a ‘database’ of experiences for the future.
Each lesson we have some theory where we chat about some common issues, such as house training, chewing and mischief puppies can get into.
We encourage families, particularly those with young children, to attend the classes together. Parts of the lessons each week are aimed specifically at any children in the class, especially teaching them to a) interact safely and properly with the puppy and b) to train the puppy themselves – that’s the beauty of positive reinforcement, it’s so easy that even a child can do it!
Children under the age of 13 years must be accompanied by an adult in the classes.
Pups can join the classes from the age of 8 – 10 weeks, as soon as they have had they second lot of vaccinations (very important!).
All breeds are welcome!
Puppy classes are on a Saturday at 13H15 – please check the schedule for the training dates.
